Taskrabbit alternatives in Canada
Updated October 23, 2026 · By the Fixgent team
Short answer
Taskrabbit is the best-known app for booking help by the hour in Canada and operates in dozens of cities. Alternatives include HomeStars, a large Canadian directory where you post a job and pros respond, hiring local businesses directly, and Fixgent, which is taking Tasker sign-ups in Canada now and will open bookings later. Which suits you depends on whether you want to book by the hour, compare quotes, or deal with a business directly.

Taskrabbit
Taskrabbit lists locations across Canada, including Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton and Winnipeg. You choose a Tasker by price, skills and reviews and can book as early as the same day. Its support pages explain that a Trust & Support fee, calculated as a percentage of the hourly rate, is added to invoices and does not reduce what the Tasker is paid.
HomeStars
HomeStars describes itself as Canada's largest network of community-reviewed home service professionals. Homeowners post jobs for free and get responses from interested pros; pros pay a fee when a homeowner chooses to get in touch. It is especially useful for larger renovation and trade jobs where you want several quotes.
Hiring a local business directly
For licensed trades such as electrical, plumbing, gas and HVAC, provinces require licensed contractors, so hiring a licensed local business directly is often the right route. Check licences and insurance, and get the quote in writing.
